Song Of The Day: “Indier Than Thou”

Welcome to the working week. Today’s song is kinda like a big ol’ finger extended toward the hipster blowhard community. I realize that might seem like the pot calling the kettle black, what with my tambourine praising blogs and all…but those were meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Or were they?

This song stemmed from a funny phrase that I thought I came up with on my own, but as it turns out, has been quite commonly used for awhile on the inter-web and in anti-hipster circles. Which are really just hipster circles in denial.   I like the word “hipster”.   It makes me laugh.  So does “blowhard”.  But who am I to point fingers?  I’m as guilty as the next guy.

I like the song, though for awhile I was really unsure if it would go on the record. It just seemed a little too…something. But whatever it was that bothered me, it stopped bothering me and I decided to include it. I think the melodies are very pretty. You can’t beat that. Most people never listen to the words anyway.

What’s that you say? Major-seventh chords? Me? Never!
