Song Of The Day: “Maybe Heaven”
Since yesterday’s song was the album opener, today’s is the closer. I wrote this tune after a funeral and I had lots of things swirling around upstairs. I guess it’s meant to be gospel-influenced, but alas, I’m a white guy with a white-guy voice. Neverthless, a friend recently told me that this song reminds him of The Band, and I thought that was a really cool compliment. I hope he meant it as one…
That’s me on piano, and Sluthye on organ. He does a really kickass lick near the end of the song, right when I go for the big high note. I still haven’t figured out how we’re gonna do this one live. Maybe we’ll move Eric to guitar and Sluth to bass. Or I’ll just stick to my proper instrument.
Seems like a reasonable solution.
